Hi,
I would like to use the WS-Discovery functionality that's part of .Net 4.0, but I cannot seem to find this in WinRT.
Can anyone tell me if this is available in WinRT and if not, what are my options?
Thanks in advance,
Tom

Hi Tomas,
Could you please explain your scenario? Are you asking about the WS-Discovery functionality available via WCF in .Net 4.0? WCF does not include the Discovery functionality for metro applications but I am curious to understand your scenario.
Thanks!

Hi Piyush,
I would basically like to launch the WinRT app, have it scan the local network and discover a set of services that I plan to run on a series of other machines on the network.
The aim of my app is to provide an easy way to share links using the Share Contract, but rather than just share the link with an app, it would be able to open that link on another machine, somewhere on the local network.
I'd be happy if I could perform an IP multicast and use that as a simple discovery mechanism, but since WCF 4 offered a nice implementation, I wondered if it was possible to do something similar in WinRT directly.
Thanks.

After some research, it seems that WS-Discovery is just not available within WinRT. However, the API does support UDP Multicast, so I can use that in place of WS-Discovery.- Yanıt Olarak İşaretleyen Tomás McGuinness 23 Nisan 2012 Pazartesi 13:53
