New (virtual)server and resellers

Hello,
We've added a new physical server and created a new virtual server to redirect new hostingspaces to new hardware to spread the load for our servers. (i.o.w. the old ones are full). Is there a way to redirect hosting packages created by EXISTING resellers for their customers to this new virtual server(s) or do we need to add a new reseller package based on the new virtual server?
Thanks,
Ronald.

You can try modifying existing hosting packages to use new VS so all new domains are added to resources of new virtual server.

Hi Rubal,
Hmm, would that not affect the existing packages in regard to modifing it later? Before i was given the advise to use a new virtual server instead of modifing the existing ones.
It would be much easier if we just could point the existing reseller package to the new virtual server. Like we can do with hosting plans that are created on a system level/serveradmin.
The way it is organized now would mean that al existing resellers would remain on the same virtual server if i understand it correctly.

From what I know it is possible to change Plan's target to a different server or virtual server. So you can simply duplicate hosting plan and change its target to a different server / VS and let the user setup a new space and domain based on the duplicated hosting plan to be created on the new server.
Thanks

Hi Rubal,
Correct me if i'm wrong but I know we can change a resellers plan target, but you cannot change a resellers existing plans target . Nor can you change a resellers customers hostingplan target. That is just the problem... You have to add a new reseller plan besides the existing plan. So all newly created resellers customers keep adding on the old servers...

Anyone? Come on guys.
I hope i'm misunderstanding this, but as I see it I won't be able to switch to the new (virtual)servers other than creating a new reseller and setting up reseller space based on the new virtual target server i have specified in the resellers hosting plan, or adding an extra reseller package to an existing reseller package? I hope I'm wrong about this...
Is there anyone who has created a new virtual server and has existing resellers that need to create new hosting spaces for their customers on new servers?

Hey Ronald,
Any luck on this? I never really got a good answer at: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sv-SE/wspdiscuss/thread/c4458491-bd14-433d-b301-81237877293a either.
I'm still sort of stumped; the way I see it, you cant modify the existing VS (I've tried). If you do then WSP doesnt like that, especially if the services are different in the new VS.
I could create a new VS, and direct all hosting plans to that, but as you pointed out that doesnt do any good for all of the existing 'stuff'
I love WSP, and as much as they tout it's modularity and expandability there really doesnt seem to actually be a plan to grow. It's great if you start out with 6 servers...just dont ever plan on going past that.
The other thing that really bites is that WSP doesnt make any changes retroactively. If I set something up now in WSP and then decide I want to change how things work then nothing that I did prior is updated. This leaves me exporting/downloading and recreating a lot of stuff... less now than in the beginning, but in the beginning I was probably creating and recreating sites on a nearly daily basis.
My only saving grace at this point is that I'm in a virtualized environment that allows me to provision more storage and memory at will, so thus far I've been able to keep up with the growth. Eventually though, something's gotta give....
I'm open to suggestions and/or collaboration to try and figure this out. I'm about ready to set up another mirror of my config as a lab and start hashing away there.
