No Message History Available

Question

Hi Folks,

I am having a problem with the storage of my Message History. I've enabled the Message History in my MSN Messenger but when I try to view the message history of a contact i am getting an empty document that usually display the message history.

When I searched my machine I got the message history in the form of XML but when i tried to open it using some browser it shows nothing but blank page.

I am using MSN Messenger Version 7.0 (Build 7.0.0813) and my Operating System is Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional with SP4

I hope you people help me to restore the message history feature soon

Although this really isn't the place for this query, it sounds like your XML Rendering in Internet Explorer may be broken or the schema file has been damaged.

To check for the schema file, simply go into the folder with the message history files (since you've already found it, I won't elaborate on its location) and delete the MessageLog.xls file and then restart Messenger/sign in for it to be re-created.

If that didn't help-- have you installed Netscape 8?  If so, an older version of Netscape 8 damaged Internet Explorer's ability to render XML.  This can be corrected using this method:
