    Hi,

We have a Bizpark MSDN subscription and when we started a new project we installed SQL Server instances on 3 different machines as Evaluation edition as we were unsure of which edition we would need. Now we have decided to upgrade to Business Intelligence edition but we actually do not have any product keys because the MSDN subcription only provides an ISO with a pre-registered key.

So where can I find a product key to upgrade the SQL Server 2012 edition?

    Thank you.

For this specific product there is no need Product Key, it will be typed automtically during the installation.

Yes you do not need a key if you are making a fresh installation but here I want to make an edition upgrade from Evaluation edition to Business Intelligence edition. When I execute the Edition Upgrade wizard I am stuck at the screen where it asks for a product key.

Also it is clearly stated on MSDN documentation that I can upgrade from Evaluation to any other edition: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143393.aspx

    hi,

When you use MSDN/Technet media, all SQL iso files are pre-pidded. You can find the product keys in the media at the drive:\X64\DefaultSetup.ini or drive:\X86\DefaultSetup.ini

    I hope it helps.

I already tried to use the integrated product key from the Business Intelligence ISO but the Edition Upgrade wizard says it is invalid.

I followed this article in the first place but as I said in my previous post, the PID I took from the Business Intelligence ISO does not work. It returns an invalid key error.

    Hello,

Please try calling Microsoft Licensing at 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. Maybe they can help you on this issue.

Usually the product key comes included in the media (pre-pidded) when the MSDN Subscriber Downloads area does not provide a product key.

    Hope this helps.

I had the exact same problem.  Microsoft Licensing was not helpful.  They said that it was a technical support issue and referred me to a pay-per-incident technical support number.

Does anyone have any additional information?

    Yep.  That sounds like Microsoft.

Hi, Just in case anyone is still having a problem with this...try using a blank product key (i.e. just click Next without entering it).  This worked for me.

    Thanks
