English Query in SQL Server

    Question

  • Hi All,

We are upgrading a Windows 2000 application to 2008 R2 64-bit. We are using English Query to generate the SQL query and to hit the database to generate the reports in windows 2000. Can anyone suggest what would be the alternative for English Query in Windows Server 2008 R2 , as English Query can’t be installed on 2008 R2 64-bit.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

  • You Can upgrade a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 installation that includes English Query, English Query is not affected

Information from following link : http://www.informit.com/guides/content.aspx?g=sqlserver&seqNum=188

English Query is unfortunately not available in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 0r 2008. You can, however, use a SQL Server 2005 license to install a copy of SQL Server 2000 and use English Query against a SQL Server 2005 database. Speak with your Microsoft representative about the licensing implications for English Query.

  • Obviously this has been left out for a while so does not appear to be a "ball drop" but why?  Was it not any good, have bugs???  Would like to have it on 2008 R@ but not going to buy a 2005 license to install 2000 just to get it.
