Downgraded SQL Server 2012 from Developer to Standard edition for TFS 2012 - Get error on Perspectives feature on TFS upgrade to Update 2 and 3

    Question

  • Hi!

Back in late 2008, we installed TFS 2012 with SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition. Both were 90 day trials, as the licencing was not ready from Microsoft yet.

Later, when we got the licence, we entered it and downgraded SQL Server to Developer Edition. This caused some problems, since TFS had taken advantage of some extra SQL features available in Developer Edition (and not Standard Edition). Some of these features could be removed using SQL Scripts (such as data compression described in this post: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/9365b0da-f5e9-4219-b8b2-498df11d921b/tfs-2010-migration-issue-sql-server-enterprise-required, so we did that.

Since then, TFS 2012 has worked fine. We installed Update 1, worked fine. And now, when we wanted to upgrade to Update 3 (we skipped Update 2), we get the following error:

I found an article explaining that we could delete the Tfs_Analysis and Tfs_Warehouse databases and rebuild them using TFS Administration Console, but that did not work well.

Any ideas on how to remove this Perspectives dependency?

    Best regards,
    Daniel
