Access from MS SQL 2008 64 bit server to Progress database use Linked server

  • Hi all,

    Im already install driver for Progress database and setup in ODBC 32 bit as well. I double check in ODBC its working perfect connection. When I try setup new linked server in sql server 2008 64 bit I have error message

    An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)

    Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "OA".
    OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "OA" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7303)

  • You cannot use a 32-bit driver from within a 64-bit SQL Server process. Either you need to find a 64-bit Progress driver, or find some other workaround, such as using SQL Server Integration Services to perform the data import/export tasks.
