SQL Server 2005 Express installation error - Access is denied

    Question

  • While installing SQLServer2005 express edition on a Winodows XP SP3 machine I am getting an error as follows:

    Microsoft SQL Server 2005 9.00.3042.00
    ==============================
OS Version     : Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (Build 2600)
    .
    .
    .
    Machine         : SPD-SGT-XP
Product         : Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
    Product Version : 9.2.3042.00
    Install         : Failed
    Log File        : C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Files\SQLSetup0001_SPD-SGT-XP_SQL.log
    Last Action     : InstallFinalize
Error String    : The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Updating Installed Files. The error is: Access is denied.
    Error Number    : 29528

The machine on which this is being installed is a new machine, fresh out of the box.

Please let me know if there is a workaround for this issue.

    Thanks,
    Animesh
