SS 2012 on Surface Pro 128GB

Answers

  • I came across this question when I was doing an unrelated search.  The answer above is incorrect.  SQL Server 2012 will run on Surface Pro.  Surface Pro is 64bit core i5.  If it will run on a laptop it will run on a Surface Pro.

  • Hello Kalman,

As far as I know currently Surface devices are only avaliable with Windows 8 RT = Runtime; means no common Windows desktop and so you can install only apps, not SQL Server as it and no desktop applications like SSMS.

I am pretty sure, there have been a dedicated web site with a silverlight application to manage SQL Azure and to create table etc & and run queries, like you can do in SSM; but the heck I can't find the site at the moment; see SQL Azure management portal and the webcast SQL Azure Management Portal what I mean.

Right, Surface Windows RT <> Surface Windows 8 Pro.
