SSRS NULL Error

    Question

  • Hello

I encountered the following error because in my stored procedure, some of the tables were truncated. I resolved the problem, but wanted to know how I can ensure that the report users will not get an error when they run the report and a record does not exist.

    Build complete -- 0 errors, 0 warnings
[rsRuntimeErrorInExpression] The ToolTip expression for the textrun ‘Text.Paragraphs[0].TextRuns[0]’ contains an error: The query returned no rows for the dataset. The expression therefore evaluates to null.
[rsRuntimeErrorInExpression] The ToolTip expression for the textrun ‘textbox3.Paragraphs[0].TextRuns[0]’ contains an error: The query returned no rows for the dataset. The expression therefore evaluates to null.
    Preview complete -- 0 errors, 2 warnings

    Thanks,

    Kajo

  • Hello Kajo,

what you see is a list of runtime warnings.   Those warnings are not visible to the end-user when viewing the report, they are only visible in the BIDS environment for the report author.

  • Kajo,

Did you got solution of this problem ?

I have right now same problem in of of my SSRS 2005 report.

Pls let me know how to display Coutn 0, when no record in dataset.

    Below is my complete description.

    Below is my DataSet Outlook.

    Column 1                      Column 2                             Column 3

     NY                                 Albany                                     3

    VA                                 Richmond                                 4

    CT                                 Groton                                      2

On my Report, i am displaying in Text Box using Expression:

    ="Total Count" + Column3.value.ToString

Which working perfectly When input is Corrosponding State (CT,VA or NY)

But, my problem is that, When Input is not one of this State means condition is not satisfy then there is not rows in Dataset.

In that situatuion i need display Like

I need to display Total Coutn: 0 for that.

But right now, i am getting Error :

"""""The query returned no rows for the data set. The expression therefore evaluates to null."""""""""

    let me suggestions.

    thanks.

  • you can use something like this

    =iif(isnothing(mycountfield.value),0,mycountfield.value)

mark it as answer if it answered your question :)
