Error 845 time out occurred while waiting for buffer latch - backup failed

  • I'm not sure which forum to post this in. I apologize in advance if I'm in the wrong place. Here is my error message:

    I'm running SQL Server 2005 (9.00.3042.00) on Windows Server 2003

    The backup on db_id number 20 failed last night. However, this buffer latch issue has been an ongoing problem. Would it cause the backup to fail?

    As far as I can tell, AWE is enabled.

  • I don't think the buffer latch issue had anything to do with the backup failure. As far as I can tell, it was just coincidence. I still don't know the root cause of the latch update issue, but a reboot resolved it. The backup plan also ran successfully last night.
