Very Frustrated

    Question

  • Ok, I created the following connection string:

    Server=E134017;User ID=sa,Password=billyboy;Initial Catatlog=Database1

    This works fine on the server itself but when I try to log into another computer on the lan and use it I get:

    Server does not exist or access is denied.

    I also tried the connection string with the full network path to the server

    \\E134017.nw.nos.boeing.com and again failed.

    I also tried E134017.nw.nos.boeing.com as the server name without success

    I seem to be able to use multiple methods in the connection string on the server itself but cannot under any conditions reach the server from another computer on the lan.

    I am lost,
    Fred

  • Are you able to access the remote database from your workstation using any tool, e.g., SQL Query Analyzer, Access, Excel...the like?

    Is there a firewall on your machine or the server that is not open to SQL traffic?
