How to export multi pages RS report to one excel file in one worksheet?

    Question

  •

Hi. We have a report in Reporting Services that most of the time come out to more that one page.  The layout of the report is:

    [Some Header]

    Description     Month1Amt          Month2Amt          Month3Amt

    XXXXXXXXX     999.99                  999.99                999.99

    XXXXXXXXX     999.99                  999.99                999.99

    XXXXXXXXX     999.99                  999.99                999.99

    XXXXXXXXX     999.99                  999.99                999.99

    Subtotal         999.99                  999.99                999.99

    [Some Footer]

That is the typical page one of the report.  We only show on display and printed report 3 months on each page.  On the succeeding pages, the report layout is exactly the same, but of course, it show data for the rest of the months (user selected/criteria).

My question is, when exporting the report, we want to it as:

    [Some Header]

    Description     Month1Amt          Month2Amt           Month3Amt           Month4Amt           Month4Amt ...

    XXXXXXXXX     999.99                  999.99                999.99                   999.99                   999.99 .....

    XXXXXXXXX     999.99                  999.99                999.99                   999.99                   999.99 .....

    XXXXXXXXX     999.99                  999.99                999.99                   999.99                   999.99 .....

    XXXXXXXXX     999.99                  999.99                999.99                   999.99                   999.99 .....

    Subtotal         999.99                  999.99                999.99                   999.99                   999.99 .....

    [Some Footer]

That is, in one excel file in one worksheet.

How are we suppose to get started with this?

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Rick

  • I don't believe there's a way to transform the data layout between your report viewing and the export, so really, excel

doesn't even need to be mentioned for this issue.

I'd say you'd have to redesign the report so that it always displays with all the months on the columns, best case scenario: leveraging a matrix, otherwise hard coding each column with data.

If this doesn't sound right for you, please provide more info and some examples of groupings you are using in the report.
