Log Shipping Copy job is failing intermittently with error "specified server cannot perform the requested operation"

    Question

  • LSCopy job has been failing intermittently since yesterday and there is not much information in the job history which is posted below. The log shipping is up and running for over 3 months without any issues.

The job runs every 5 minutes. Some times the job fails once every 3 hours, and other time it fails 3 times in 30 minutes.

Would appreciate if anyone knows the possible reason for failure.

  • Check System Event log and Application Event log at 2012-05-18 11:07:11.76

As Satish said, the issue seems to be outside of SQL Server.

  • I could not find any errors or any thing unusual at the 11:07. I sent an email to Intel/Network team to see there were network issues. The LSCopy job has not failed in the last 5 hours.
