how did this person do this with a matrix?

    Question

  • I am trying to replicate something that someone else did. It looks like it is a matrix. It has a bunch of row groups, no apparent column groups. It has few measures that are summed at these rows groups. (again, i see no colum groups)

Normally, you don't get column headers when there are no column groups, but somehow this person made it so that there are column labels across the top of the matrix, including over the measures. These column labels aren't textboxes strategically placed over the matrix. These labels are part of this matrix.

One thing I am seeing is this. When I click on that upside down black arrow in the Column Groups section and enable Advanced Mode, I see something called (Static) appearing in the Row Group and Column Group section. Is that an indication of anything?

  • Hi,

This grouping can be done in Matrix table also.

The column group has been removed in this matrix.one column has been selected and a row group has been added with [aaaaa]. second column is selected and it has been grouped with [bbbb] and same has been followed for the rest of the columns.

  • hi gud,

why you are trying this with Matrix if same can be done in "Tabular" Report, I have handle this for multiple grouping before so what i suggest you to handle all grouping part in Sql Script and present same in report designerin heirarchical manner...Enable Sub Total if required..Enable drill Down if data is large...

  • Here is a screen shot of it. How can I get that dark blue section if this is a matrix? I'm pretty sure this is a matrix (not a table) because if I try to delete that last column, it says I can't because that must be the data section of a matrix.
