Connection Error from Visual Studio 2012 to SQL Server 2012 Express

    Question

  • Hi Group,

I'm facing the same problem than Genn T. Kitchen does.

I'm using the the Server Explorer within Visual Studio 2012 in order to create a data conection to a SQL-Server 2012 Express database.
I'm using Windows Authentification - Click Test Connection and the result is "Test connection succeeded". Once I click the OK-button A window pops up from Server Explorer  with this Error-Message

"Unable to add data connection. Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Sdk.Sfc, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or on of its dependencies. Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden.

I downloaded SQL Server 2012 Express in a bundle with Visual Studio 2012 from Microsoft.

    Does anybody has an idea?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Alberto,

    thx for your reply.

    Unfortunately the installation of

Mircosoft SQL Server 2012 Shared Management Objects
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Native Client

where recjected by installation programm as the current installed component are new of age than them
    I try to install.

    And

Installation of Microsoft System CLR Types for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 let to a repair function.
I did the repair, but it didn't lead to the expected  success.

    Best regards.
