data at the root level is invalid

    Question

  • I have moved a  rdl file from one server to another and then opened it in visual studio.

I have changed the data source connections too.

But I am getting the following error.

One or more errors encountered while loading the designer. The errors are listed below.

"Data at the root level is invalid. Line 6423,position 10"

can anyone tell me how to fix this please?

    Thanks

  • Hi Shamen,

It loos like your RDL file contains invalid XML.  It may have gotten corrupted.  Can you open it in a text editor?  Check  that the <DataSourceName> element is not inside <CommandText>.

Please let us know your feedback.

    Thanks
