Adding Data Quality Server to and existing instance of SQL Server

    Frage

  • Hello,

We are using sql server 2012 sp1, and wish to add Data Quality Server to an existing clustered instance.  Setup fails to add the feature, saying the instance is already installed and running, choose another instance.

Can you not add DQS to an existing instance, like you can with SSRS?

    Thank you,

    Dianne

  • Hello,

I think you cannot add or remove features or components to an existing SQL Server failover cluster instance. If you need to add or remove features to an existing cluster instance, you need to reinstall the virtual instance with the required features.

Also, don't forget to complete the Data Quality Server installation after finishing with the SQL Server setup by running the DQSInstaller.exe file.

    Thanks,
    Vivek

  • Agreed with Vivek, unfortunately its a one time shot with picking features in cluster installs. DQS is tied to the SQL engine instance, so it need a fresh instance.

You cannot add features to an existing failover cluster.
