Silverlight Plug-in has crashed

    Question

  • Hi, using Google Chrome browser and getting "Silverlight Plug-In is Unresponsive" message, then program crashes. Uninstalled whatever version I had, reinstalled Silverlight 5, latest version, still having problem. Ii believe it may have to do with my OS, Vista Home Prem Service Pack 2, 64-bit.  Looked at system req. page, saw support for Chrome using my OS, but not specifically for 64-bit.  Any help appreciated.

  • I wouldn't put to much effort into the Silverlight/Chrome combination. Google has announced that it is removing the Netscape Plug-in API (NPAPI). They are starting the process this January. Silverlight relies on NPAPI to run on Chrome so when they remove it, Silverlight will not run on Chrome at all and there are no plans to support Silverlight in the future.

  • Hi,

Vista does not support 64-bit Silverlight and you may download and install 32-bit Silverlight on your PC. And you can run Silverlight in IE.

About compatible issue of Silverlight, you can get details from here: http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx .
