Netflix Error code 1001

    Question

  • I have uninstalled and reinstalled silverlight multiple times as well as tried 3 different browsers. Netflix told me it was specifically a Silverlight problem and directed me here. I have windows 7. Any help please?

  • I found a solution to all the above problems.  I managed to install silverlight version 4 rather than version 5 and this seems to have done the trick.  Its not a solution but more of a quick fix until silverlight get the version 5 sorted out.  I hope that helpsLaughing

  • Hi,

Could you please try below link and check if the silverlight content will be shown successfully? This will help us to isolate if this issue happens on Netflix explicitly or on all website with silverlight content.

    http://www.silverlight.net/content/samples/sl4/toolkitcontrolsamples/run/default.html

If above link doesn't work either, when installing silverlight, do you get any error at the end of installation?

Please post the error message or error code here.

If above link works, please try below link by adding https://*.netflix.com and http://*.netflix.com to trusted sites list.

  • I first link did not work and I never get error codes when intalling silverlight. Ive tried different versions of silverlight as well as unchecking server verification and adding netflix to my trusted sites, and making sure the box to allow alternative codecs for HTML5 media elements in internet explorer.

  • Please try to reset IE and check if it will solve the problem.

  • I have the same problem.  All OK up until a few weeks back and now all I get in Netflix is error code 1001.  I am using latest ie 9 on windows 7 64 bit.  I have installed silverligt and un installed it.  I have trawled through many forums and this one seems to be the most up to date, so here I am.  I have just, tonight, done a complete factory reinstall on my machine, so there is no problem with any bad programmes I might have installed in the past.  It is completely new.  I tried opening  internet explorer in 64 bit and the 32 bit version but no joy... please help...

  • Hi, I have the same exact problem, and checked the first link, it does not work. No errors displayed after installing silver like 5 either.

Should I also install version 4 of silverlight?

  • I have the same issue. I contacted Netflix and they said I need a new version of Silverlight. When I installed it, it says I already have a version of Silverlight installed. I uninstalled Silverlight and reinstalled a "newer" version. I then logged on to Netflix and received the same message that I need to install Silverlight. Netflix says to contact Microsoft, and the prospects of getting a response from Microsoft is dismal at best. I spent 2 minutes installing Mozilla Firefox browser and was able to view movies immediately.

  • Hi, I clicked the link above and tried to install Silverlight. A message popped up that that version is already on my computer. No other error messages.

  • Silverlight error code 1001 netflix

I had this problem for 6 months. Finally I back tracked my browser to the last date netflix work and uninstalled all the new fonts I installed after that date. You will not get help from netflix or MS concerning this issue. However, it worked for me.

Step 1: check to see if your Sliverlight is working by going to this site: http://bubblemark.com/silverlight2.html. If you see the animation test this might NOT be your problem. However, if you can't see the animation this might solve your problem.

Step 2: Check your browser history date for the last time netflix worked on your system. Make note of the date.

Step 3: Go to start -> Control Panel -> fonts folder -> delete all fonts installed after that date.

    Step 4: refresh your browser.

Step 5: Go to http://bubblemark.com/silverlight2.html. If this works you should be good to go! Best of luck.

Note: It might also be an application that you have installed not just a font. So if you have installed applications and than the netflix site stopped working delete the application.
