Expression Encoder 3 Graphing Template

    Question

  • Hello ,

    In Encoder 3 Graphing template , we are getting only one graph when we play any smooth streaming video. In Encoder2 template , there was 3 graphs . Its good but quite complicated , Can anyone tell me , what is blue color and yellow color lines representing in the graph .

    As per my understanding ,

    Red Color is for BIt Rate Graph

    Green Coloris is for Frame Rate

    But what is blue color

    what is Yellow Color Line ?

    Can we get source code for generating the graphs ?

  • Green == Frame rate
    Red == "Now playing" bitrate.
    Blue == "Now downloading" bitrate
    Orange == Measured netowrk bandwidth

  • Hi AkshaySilverlight,

    Can we get source code for generating the graphs ?

    We can get the source code from this path(by default).   C:\Program Files\Microsoft Expression\Encoder 3\Templates\en

    As per my understanding ,

    Red Color is for BIt Rate Graph

    Green Coloris is for Frame Rate

    But what is blue color

    what is Yellow Color Line ?

    I didn't get the Graphing in Encoder 2. Would you please elaborate on it with a image or something?

    Best regards,

    Jonathan

  • Hello Jonathan ,

    In Encoder 3, The source code which is lying on this path (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Expression\Encoder 3\Templates\en)  does not have any source code realted to Graphs . As all the graphs realted stuff is in the SmoothStreaming.xap (and we dont have any source code for that )

    There is no graphing template in Encoder 2  but in Encoder 2 for graphs there was a template "Silverlight Smooth Streaming: UX Simulator" for the same .

    Now can you please let me know In Encoder 3 Graphing template what are Blue Color Lines and Yellow Color Lines on the graphs . If I am not wrong then yellow color line should be maximum bandwidth available in the computer.

    Ok.  There is no such source code.  When we unzip the SmoothStreaming.xap, we will find only 3 files there.  (PlugInMssCtrl.dll, SmoothStreaming.dll, AppManifest).  We can find the source code for PlugInMssCtrl.

    I didn't get the Blue Color Lines and Yellow Color Lines.  However, for the meanings of Soomth Streaming Tools, you can take a look at this link

    Best regards,

  • Hello Jonathan ,

     As I told you in my earlier post as well  , I am not talking about Expression Encoder 2 template . I am talking About Expression Encoder 3 Template only , which is totally different from the link (This link , which which you sent me , belongs to expression encoder 2) . If you need a screen shot for new graphs then send me your email id and i 'll send you a screen shot . I hope that will solve our confusion

  • I have the same question in Encoder 3 the graph shows red, blue, yellow and green. What do they all mean?

    Thanks,

    Eric

  • Hello Eric ,

    I am sure about  following two color .

    Red Color is for BIt Rate Graph

    Green Color  is for Frame Rate

    Blue seems like seeking activity and yellow is available network bandwidth in your system .

  • just because I was looking for this

    • EE3 supported graph data
      • Red line - currently rendered bitrate.
      • Blue line - currently downloading bitrate
      • Green line - rendered frame rate.
    • New EE4 supported graph data
      • Cyan line - dropped frame rate.
      • Yellow line - measured CPU processor load
      • Straight yellow line - CPU processor load limit - if CPU load exceeds this - The "CPU Heuristic" will lower Smooth Streaming bitrate available for download
      • Light green line - estimated CPU processor load at next higher bitrate.
      • Straight light green line - estimated CPU processor load "UP" threshold - if the "estimated CPU processor load at next higher bitrate" line is below this value the "CPU heuristic" will attempt to play the next higher bitrate.
      • Fat purple line - The highest bitrate that the "CPU heuristic" will make available for download.
