Publishing.. can't get rid of file...

    General discussion

  • I can't do a publish, as VS keeps trying to copy a file... I even removed all references to that dll.. I search my project and there is no reference.. i search my file structure and nothing... but i still get this error.
    Error 101 Copying file ClientBin\FloatableWindow.zip to obj\Debug\Package\PackageTmp\ClientBin\FloatableWindow.zip failed. Could not find file 'ClientBin\FloatableWindow.zip'. C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\Web\Microsoft.Web.Publishing.targets 1966 5 PetroWEB.Navigator.Application.Web

    If I double click on the error.. it takes me to this line in Microsoft.Web.Publishing.Targets.
     <CopyPipelineFiles PipelineItems="@(FilesForPackagingFromProject)"
    SourceDirectory="$(WebPublishPipelineProjectDirectory)"
    TargetDirectory="$(_PackageTempDir)"
    SkipMetadataExcludeTrueItems="True"
    UpdateItemSpec="True"
    DeleteItemsMarkAsExcludeTrue ="True">
    <Output TaskParameter="ResultPipelineItems" ItemName="_FilesForPackagingFromProjectTempory"/>
    </CopyPipelineFiles>

  • FYI, Builds fine. I've done cleans and close and reopen Visual Studio.

    Problem is on multiple machines.

  • Are you sure you rebuilt your app?  Check the Configuration Manager and make sure it is compiling everything you are expect.

  • Yes, I'm sure it's rebuilding... (I've deleted folders/files and they are rebuilding)

    But the actual problem is that it is trying to do something with files that it shouldn't like it's building too much....

    There are no references to this dll, yet it's trying publish it.

  • You didn't say if you checked Configuration Manager or not.

    With it being a zip, it sounds like it could be something in the manifest file.  Have you checked that?

  • There were extra files that were somehow included in the web project.

  • Still didn't say if you checked Configuration Manager or not.

    Is your problem fixed now?  If yes, what did you do to fix it?

  • Hi caseynshan83,

    Are you using library caching?

    If disable library caching will this issue persist?

    If possible, please upload your project onto skydrive then we will be able to test it on our sids.

    Best Regards,
