  • SharePoint Foundation has a more limited feature set than SharePoint server 2010, but there are no limits on user access or the content db size if you install using a full SQL server.  If you install a standalone installation using SQL express than the normal limitation of 4GB imposed by SQL express applies.  The following page has a feature comparison of SharePoint Foundation with SharePoint Server Standard and Enterprise.

  • Hi,

    - wont be able to have sub-site automatically inheriting parent theme/ master page?

Yes, it is true so you need to apply then manually or by code.

    - whenever I make changes to the master page, I have to apply it manually to all sub-sites?

No, Once you applied your master page in subsite and if you make any changes then it will reflect to masterpage automatically.

    - can I do it in the code like here:...

see this link to apply master page: http://sharepointmasterpages.com/install-guides/sharepoint-foundation

What other limitations are there in object model?

Normally you can play with list/library with object model. But no feature/class for publishing and enterprise.

    Hope it could help
