There is a duplicate 'system.web.extensions/scripting/scriptResourceHandler 'section defined'

    Question

  • i am creating my asp.net solution on the sharepoint(asp.net website and location=http://localhost/_layouts/myprogram)

    (i using sharepoint2010-s1 and visual studio2010 and .net3.5)

    when i were wanted test design form and browse this form, i recieve error:

    Error Code 0x800700b7
    Config Error There is a duplicate 'system.web.extensions/scripting/scriptResourceHandler 'section defined'

    but when i  deleted  this section i recieved this error:

    Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed.

    Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on the local server machine, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "RemoteOnly". To enable the details to be viewable on remote machines, please set "mode" to "Off".

    what i doing  to solve this problem?

  • Please off your custom erros first then we can see errors in details

    Here are the steps to off custom erros

    1. Open up your site web.config, and make the standard custom errors edit. You want it to be

    < customerrors mode="Off"/>

    2. Then, something a bit less obvious, search for the CallStack="false" and change it to

    CallStack="true".

    and go through post too http://forums.iis.net/t/1149226.aspx

  • Did you change your framework afterwards? As you can see in this thread http://forums.iis.net/t/1149226.aspx there are some problems with IIS and changing your framework. (Assuming you checked your web.config for duplicate entries), you can also follow the steps from Sandip Patil after you deleted the section and check what error is returned.
