I am working on a SPD workflow email. In the content text I need write soemthing like ".. please click here ..." and I want "click here" has a url link which is very long and may make the content looks messy. What action or the way should I use to accomodate this? Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Allan,

I’m afraid I can’t reproduce your issue in my local.

I suggest you to have a try as following solutions:

    1.      Hard code the URL

    2.      Using the third part custom action to replace the white place in http://www.codeplex.com/spdwfextensions

    Hope this helps

    Thanks!

  • Hi there,

I figured it out that I can use hyperlink tag <a href="">click here</a> to reach that. But what if I want to type some pure text like <a href="">click here</a> in the emai? that way what you see will be "click here" but not <a href="">click here</a>.

  • Hi Allan,

I am not clear about your issue.

Have you worried that long links make the content looks messy?

If you just want to make the content more readable, you can choose a workflow variable to store long URL.

How to use the workflow variable, please refer to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointdesigner/HA102404151033.aspx

For more information about sending email activity with workflow variable, please refer to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointdesigner/HA102390421033.aspx

    Hope this helps

  • the URL will only be visible if the message is in HTML format.

so yes, use the <a href="">click Here</a> tag in the message body.

  • thanks to both for replies.

    What i need are:

    1) i have a link field which has sharepoint link url with lot white spaces in it, like http://server/lists/list for tech support

    2) i want to tell user in SPD workflow email that "if you want to ... then click here" and under the "click here" i want to embed the link from that link field.

i used <a href="">click here</a> this way and it works but like i said above the link has many white spaces so the link will be broken at the space. In other word, if the link has no space it works with click here text but if it has any space it breaks. Seems SPD email does not fill the space with %20

How can I solve this? thanks.
