KPI List error: "The maximum number of allowed sessions per user has been exceeded. The operation cannot be completed."

  • I've created a dashboard page that contains a total of 8 KPI lists. The page takes a few moments to fully load each of the KPI lists, but it normally loads fine and displays all of the KPI values within each list. However, occassionally some of the specific values within the KPI list(s) will error out, with the following message:

    "The maximum number of allowed sessions per user has been exceeded. The operation cannot be completed."
     

    This is an intermittent problem - the majority of the time all data loads fine, but the error does happen frequently enough to be an issue for users. I'm assuming the more KPI lists on a single page, the greater the likelihood of the error occurring. But beyond that, any specific ideas as to why this error occurs, or what could be done to prevent it?

    The maximum number of sessions is reached, please go to CA > Manager Service applications > Excel Services application > Global Settings, and increase Maximum Sessions Per User option, and the default value is 25.
