    Steps i have followed:

    1. Installed WSS 3.0 SP2 on the MOSS 2007 32 bit server
    2. Installed MOss 2007 SP2
    3. While running configuraton wizard, it failed at step 2.
    4. there were error in upgrade log file like "failed to call gettypes"
    5. While searching for help, i seen this blog http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tmathis/archive/2009/11/03/spupgradeexception-one-or-more-types-failed-to-load-exception-when-running-configuration-wizard.aspx
    6. this blog descriped my situation bcoz, office 2010 is installed in My server. So, i uninstalled office 2010.
    7. rebooted the server
    8. and again ran the configuration wizard.
    9. It successfully finished, i was very happy. and the Central administration was opened.

now, i am unable to open any of my sites. please guide me to resolve this.

What are the steps should i follow to resolve this?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Try to dettach and then reattach the content databases. Basically, they failed to migrate. By reattaching them, they will automatically get updated.

  • =>either remove or detach the content database from the web application which are having the error.
=> in case this doesn’t work. run following stsadm command
    -for specific site
stsadm –o upgrade –inplace –url –forceupgrade

-for all site at one go
    stsadm –o upgrade –inplace –forceupgrade

=> if stsadm encounter any error - view log file (12/log/upgrade.log).and fix the issue ,and re-run same command.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your response.

I have tried detach the content database and while attaching the same Content database, it shows error :  WSS_Content in<server_name> contains user-defined schema.  Databases must be empty before they can be used.  Delete all of the tables, stored procedures and other objects or use a different database.

after that, i have run stsadm –o upgrade –inplace –forceupgrade command . Operation completed successfully.

But, the same error while opening my site. Kindly help to resolve this.

  • If you have a full farm backup, just go to Central administation, in Operations, Restore from backup.

Next (at stage 3 if I remember correctly), when you need to select components to restore, only select the web applications.

  • Do you have backups of the content databases before the SP2 update? If yes, try to attach them.

  • What type of backup do you have (central admin backup, stsadm backup, sql backup)?

Here are some explanations about backup/restore operations using different types of methods: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262412(office.12).aspx
