Refesh Fields - Custom List Form

    Question

  • Dear All,

    I have created a custom list form using SPD 2007 by importing data views and web parts on an .aspx page, the form is working fine but each time I create a new item it brings values from the last initiated form. What should I do to avoid this? Looking forward to hear from you guys.

    Thanks!

  • When you created the data view web part, and selected to insert the custom form, did you choose the "new form" as the type of form?  All I can think of is that "edit form" was maybe selected instead.  Not sure if it'll help, but here's my screencast on how to create a custom list form:

  • Hey Laura,

    Yes I did opt 'new form' as form type for customization, but I am still facing the same problem. Can you also tell me how can i customize the custom (work flow) approve form which is dynamic in nature. My aim is to import custom list data views and web parts on the custom approve (.aspx) page.

    Thanks!

  • Are you referring to a SharePoint Designer workflow's initiation form? If so, open up the site in SharePoint Designer, then expand the "workflows" folder on the left side of the screen, then click to select your workflow, and (if your workflow has been set up to be started manually) there will be an ASPX page in there.  You really don't want to customize it from there, though, you want to use the "initiation form" button within the workflow designer, and customize the fields from there.

  • Hey Laura,

    Thanks for getting back to my query;

    1) Yes I am referring to the SPD - workflow triggered form, but in my case it has to be automatic and not manually initiated. I am able to access the workflow approval (.Aspx) page but when I try to import (custom list) data views or web part zones to this dynamic form I get an .xslt error.

    Just to make it clear, my aim is to import other custom lists information (data view or web part view) on the approval page, these lists will help the approver to take decision (approve or reject)

    2) Coming to the original question, like I mentioned I am still getting old values each time I initiate a new item form:

       Question:  Is it because I am using content type to add custom columns?

    Looking forward to hear from you, Thanks!
