Hi,
Is there a way of gathering diagnostic information without creating physical environment in lab center in mtm? We uses VS2010 professional and MTM 2010. When I check the lab center in the mtm, the creation of of either physical or virtual environment is disabled. Also can the test controller/test agent work without creating the physical environment in lab center in mtm?
Many Thanks for your help

You will need to create an enivroment to run MTM tests on an agent. Also, could you explain as to what you mean by collecting diagnostic information? Could you explain your scenario as to what type of testing you are doing and what information you want to collect?

Hi,
I got this scenario
A. 1 PC where my MTM is installed, Visual Studio 2010 Installed (connected in domain A)
B. 1 PC for my test environment (connected in workgroup)
I have created a manual test case on mtm and executed it, and then when I create a bug in MTM, The details tab, systems info and the attachments have the details of my pc where the MTM is installed. I was hoping to get the the details, system info and attachments from my test environment pc and not on my pc where mtm is installed. With this case in mind i was thinking of installing test agent on my test environment pc. But when I look at the lab center of my mtm, I could not create any environment, I can click the new button in the environments but the three options are disabled. I'm not really sure how we can get the details, system info and attachments from the bug to come from my test environment pc instead of my pc where the mtm is installed.
Thanks for your help.

Hi KhrisR,
According to your description of the issue, I suppose you have a physical test pc which some test run on it, you want to get diagnostics information of this pc through MTM, so you want to add this pc to lab center as a test environment, run test with this environment and test settings to get the corresponding data, but now, all options in lab seems disable to you, you want to know why. If I have misunderstood anything, please free feel to let me know.
Actually, use physical test environment or virtual test environment in MTM, you both need to configure Lab management. You can then use Lab Management to deploy your application to these environments and run tests. To configure Lab Management, you need SCVMM installed first. For detail information about configure Lab Management, please refer to Configuring Lab Management for the First Time.
I hope this information will help resolve this issue.
If anything is unclear, please free feel to let me know.
Best regards,

12 апреля 2012 г. 8:14Thanks Lily, yup you've understood it correctly. I might need to ask our TFS administrator if they have installed SCVMM. Thanks for your help.

Nivedita,
I don't have SCVMM installed on my machine. There is no use of test controller and test agent in this case?
Question 1:
Scenario:
Machine 1: Visual Studio Ultimate + Test Manager + Test controller + Test Agent installed.
Machine 2: Test Agent installed.
Test cases been created in the 'Machine1' which I want to share with the "Machine2' through test manager where Test agent installed.
Is it possible?
Question 2:
I have installed Virtual user license pack in the controller, with out using the lab center I can't use the agent machine to simulate 1000 users ?
'Load test that uses one remote machine' is possible with the below prerequisites?
1. Visual Studio Ultimate.
2. Microsoft Test Manager.
3. Microsoft Test Agents.
