Unable to upload Item Template VSIX files containing multiple zip files

Question

I have created a VSIX project that contains multiple Item Templates as part of the content.  When I build the VSIX and install it locally on my machine, it works just fine and installs all of the Item Templates that I included in my VSIX file.

However, when I upload this VSIX to the Visual Studio Gallery, I get an error message stating that I cannot upload a VSIX containing multiple zip files.

Is there a reason why I am unable to upload a VSIX which contains multiple item templates? 

If that feature is not currently available, I would like to request this capability be added to the Visual Studio Gallery since it would greatly simplify the packaging and release process on Visual Studio Gallery for mutliple related Item Templates.
