VS2008 Locals Window does not work on Vista 64?

Question

Having downloaded the VS2008 Pro installation, I found the following passage in the Readme file:

 

2.3.1.3. Locals window does not work on the 64-bit version of Windows Vista.

The Locals window is not visible when Visual Studio is running on the 64-bit version of Windows Vista.

To resolve this issue:

No workaround is available.

 

Come on... this has to be a joke, right? Surely this doesn't mean that the VS2008 debugger does not show any local variables under Vista 64?

 

Can someone please confirm or explain precisely what this passage means?

Weird, not sure why this is in the Readme, I will folow up, but I am pretty sure that the Locals window exists and it shows local variables on Vista 64 bit in VS 2008.

Monica asked me to check this issue out. Apparently this readme item is bogus. The locals window works as expected on Vista x64 machines.

 

To be sure I checked the following scenarios:

• x86 and x64 apps.
• Native CPP and Managed C# apps
• Debugging via Launch and Attach

A bug has been logged and we will get the readme corrected in a future revision.

Thanks Richard. The Readme is still not corrected in the ISO I recently downloaded from MSDN.
