View History very slow on branched code (TFS2005SP1)

Question

 

We've noticed there is a huge difference in the time view history takes to return data on the top of tree vs. the same folder on a branch.  It takes seconds on the top of tree and sometimes 2 minutes on a branch. (even if TFS did display history past the branch it shouldn't take this long.. but we all know it doesnt do that anyway.)

 

How can we fix this?

 

We are running on a single TFS server with SQL2005 that database itself is running off a direct gigabit link to a NAS/SAN.

It's a 32bit server with 4GB memory 4 cores.

 

Ideas?  What should we look for?

Have you solved the problem? I got the exact same problem.
My environment is almost the same as yours except SQL server is running on the same machine along with the TFS server.

Everything is on the same box for us as well. No solution yet.  We opened a case with MS it is reproducible seems only certain folders on a specific branch have an issue.  We don't know why this branch should be any different than others.

I hate to reopen an old thread but was a solution ever found for this? I have a TFS 2005 system that is experiencing the same exact issue and my users are complaining. Wondering if you had a resolution. Thanks.
