    Hi,

Yes, those links do go around in circles and get you no where.

You can download the files for the Analysis Services tutorial from here: http://msftdbprodsamples.codeplex.com/releases/view/4004.  Run the AdventureWorksBI.msi from that page.  Or, if you have an X64 or IA64 server, choose the corresponding AdventureWorksBI msi from the list.

The installation package will copy the files to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Samples  be default unless you choose a different location during installation.

    Kind regards,

    Gail

Yes. It is the link, to the analysis services sample database project files.  AFAIK, the entire tutorial is based on those files.

You need to go to: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Samples" and there you will find the msi file "SQLServerSamples.msi" -run it . It will install the sample files you need.

Hi, I'm an SSAS noob trying to work my way through a book, ad in the lesson about deploying a sample cube, it says to open "Adventure Works DW 2008.dwproj" in the folder "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Samples\AdventureWorks 2008 Analysis Services Project\standard", but my problem is that once I get to the Samples folder, it's empty except for an htm file linking me to the codeplex website.

Would running AdventureWorksBI.msi work in this situation?  I noticed that your answer said it would copy files into the \90 folder instead of \100, but could I still use it?

The above link is for SQL Server 2005.  You can download 2008 samples databases here http://msftdbprodsamples.codeplex.com/releases/view/59211

Thanks for the reply, Mr. Wharty - I've already downloaded and installed the sample database for 2008R2 (which was tricky for a beginner like me, especially since there was no log file), but there are no sample cubes in the download.  Do you know where I can find them?

    My apologies.

The following link contains the DB and Projects for 2008 which I believe work with 2008R2 as well.

    AdventureWorks2008_SR4.exe: http://msftdbprodsamples.codeplex.com/releases/view/37109#DownloadId=96448
