Answered PowerPivot Gallery shows an error with a workbook oversized for the browser

    hello,

I installed Powerpivot for SharePoint in an existing farm. I have successfuly tested a workbook with a powerpivot database and navigate my data using slicers.

Then, I added a PowerPivot Gallery and loaded the same workbook in order to check if gallery view type will works. the snapshot shows a picture of Excel with an error Message :

"this workbook is larger than the maximum workbook size allowed to be opened in this browser"

I checked the trusted file location setting of Excel Services (and i also found that they are a lot covering my powerpivot gallery location) and they all have an increased number for the workbook maximum size setting.

Anyway, i didn't have this message during my first test with the workbook within a regular document library, how come the getsnapshot could have this error ?

    thanks for any help

    Best regards

    Stéphane G.

    Hi Stephane,

It seems that you should configure maximum file size for Excel Services, steps are:

    1. In Central Administration, in Application Management, click Manage service applications.

    2. Click Excel Services Application.

    3. Click Trusted File Locations.

    4. Click the location. By default, Excel Services considers the default web application a trusted site. If you are using the default web application, click http:// to open the configuration page for this location.

    5. Scroll to Workbook Properties.

    6. In Maximum Workbook Size, increase the file size from 10 (the default value) to 50 or a larger size that accommodates the files you are working with.

    7. Click OK.

    Hi Challen,

    thanks for your help

I finaly found that there were two Excel Services service application with many trusted file locations that cover the same locations of the site collection

All those trusted file locations had their workbook size increased to 2000 MB.

I deleted one of the Excel services service application and removed all trusted file locations that are not relevant

After that, it has worked fine...

Bytheway, the point there is that it's difficult to know in the case of many trusted file locations that cover the same document library which one is realy applied.
