Alerts Won't work when you progrmmatically add an item to document library

Question

Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right group
I have a workflow that adds files to a document library using codeplex code ( http://spdactivities.codeplex.com/) . I Have connected to this document library by Actions/Alert Me, yet I get no alert when a new item is added.
Is there something I need to do ?
I was thinking of adding an event on itemadded/changed, that will call all the alerts for this item/list. Is this feasible?
Is there a sample code of how to do this?
