    Hi,

Regarding the error message: "No Such Host is Known", it could be the FQDN in ODC file cannot be resolved, please check whether the FQDN can be resolved by the local DNS server in your domain.

If this is not the cause of the error, could you please let me know more details of your issue?

    1.    Did the issue happen when opened up a Excel Services Trusted Data Connection Libraries in the SSP Administration site or the specific Data Connection Libraries?

    2.    Did the issue happen when open a ODC file in Excel workbook?

    3.    Did the server hosts the SSAS locate in the internal network or outside of the domain?

    4.    Is there any related error message logged in Event Viewer or ULS logs?

Let me know the result if possible.

When I access public sharepoint site from within our company domain where the SSAS server can be accessed using ODC file it works, however when the public sharepoint site is accessed outside the domain where data source server can't be accessed i get an error. I was under impression that once I include data connection libraries which contains odc file in Excel Services Trusted Data conneciton libraries, Excel will be able to access internal SSAS server thru public sharepoint site even though the database server for Excel spreadsheet is not accessible from outside the domain. Remember this is public facing sharepoint site trying to access SSAS server within internal network.

    1) I don't know what you mean by this. You can't open anything up in Trusted Data Connection Libraries in the SSP administration site. You just specify which data connection libraries are trusted.
    2) it happens both if i open up odc file or excel file using same odc file. Both opens up excel application.
    3) server that host SSAS is sitting in internal network but is exposed to the sharepoint server sitting in external network (in DMZ)
    4) no

    thanks for you time.
