404 Running Mesh silverlight app from XP Desktop

Question

I have a new mesh app and it seems to be working fine in the Mesh Desktop but when I try and run it from the XP Desktop icon it gives me a 404 Cannot access webpage error trying to access localhost:2048.  I have checked the firewall settings and they are turned off on this machine.  We do however have a proxy setting which is set in the Ie LAN settings.   I have checked the bypass for local and have set do not use proxy for localhost in the advanced settings.  Still 404 error.  Is there something else which I need to do to get the local desktop version to work?  Thanks

Thanks Jason for reporting this issue. 
We are working towards fix for similar issue and would need some information:
a) How large is your application in size/number of files? If you wait for some time (15-30 minutes) and see if the application starts working?

b) I request you to submit bug at Live Framework Developer Connection site. Also, attach the Logs from your desktop. This will help investigate the issue.

1.        Accessing Live Framework Developer Connection site errors out “Page Not Found”? This error means that you are not registered with connect site and/or you don’t have your account provisioned with Live Framework CTP. Hi, Jason,

You need have XP SP3 installed. TO collect the log, please follow the instructions:

1. Got to Start->Live Framework Client->Collect Logs. A windows DOS prompt will be opened automatically and you will see the logs are collecting and packing.
2. After the DOS windows closed, you will find a cab file at your Windows Desktop LiveMeshLogs.cab. Copy it and send it to [e-mail].

1.) I have signed in and claimed the device.  It is currently running fine.  I can access shared folders.

2.) The file is 1.25MB zip file with 5 files inside.

3.) The Application does not work on the Device Desktop.  It does however work in the Live Mesh Desktop correctly.

4.) I have created a log file and I am sending it now.

Jason,

Keep an eye on the Live Framework client icon in the taskbar.  Click on it to make sure that you're logged in, then launch your mesh app using a shortcut on your local desktop. 

If the mesh app reports an HTTP 404 or HTTP 500 error and the Live Framework Client shifts back to the logged out state, this is a known problem.  There is currently no workaround - for the moment you can only run and debug mesh apps created with the Live Frameworks Tools for Visual Studio by running them in Live Desktop in the browser.  We're working on a fix.

We have received your log and our developers are working on the fixes. Other than this problem, we are also fixing other problems as well. Hopefully in the near future, you will see a much better client bits.

Hi Danny,

Any updates on a fix to enable running Live Mesh Web Apps created with the Live Framework Tools on the desktop? I'm getting the 500 error when launching my application from the desktop, but I can debug/launch it in the Live Desktop.

Doing a user group presentation next Thursday, and would love to include Silverlight apps running outside the browser...

It requires a new build of the Live Framework Client.  I'm not sure exactly when that will be in your hands, but the fix is in the pipeline.
