An unhandled exception of type 'System.InvalidCastException' occurred in Microsoft.VisualStudio.Web.dll Additional information: Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type
'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Web.Interop.IVsClientBuildManagerEventSink'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM
component for the interface with IID '{AE98AB5C-5406-4D5A-A8AE-C06734805788}' failed due to the following error: Library not registered.
(Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002801D (TYPE_E_LIBNOTREGISTERED)).
Aspx/ascx pages crash and restarts vs2008. Xml designer works, and html designer works, but web form designer doesn't. I get the above when I attach to process with one instance of vs2008 and open ascx/aspx pages from another instance.
Unhandled exception at 0x765fb9bc in devenv.exe: 0xE0434F4D: 0xe0434f4d.
I get this when I let vs2008 open the window giving option to debug and open in new instance of vs2008
I have reinstalled, repaired, uninstalled, uninstalled with a separate uninstaller specific to vs2008, deleted addons. Deleted and let vs2008 autogenerate designer files.
windows 7 x64 bit. Had no problems until about 3 or 4 months ago. All the projects do it.

Hi zaryk,
Thank you for posting in the MSDN forum.
Based on your description, it seems that VS2008 hangs after .ascx / .aspx files opens.
As you said that, you have repaired and reinstalled the VS, it still has the same issue, so I’m afraid it is not related to the VS, maybe you can check it with another computer.
I find two articles about the same problem, so if possible, you could see it:
