AppFabric 1.1 installation failed; not enough info to proceed
-
26 martie 2012 04:33
I have a Win7 x64 workstation that already had AppFabric (1.0 back then I believe) when it was still WinVista.
Now I am trying to install AppFabric 1.1 and it fails without really providing information on what I can do to rectify this.

From code, I can see why vista + win7 upgrade may fail , do you still have appserver 1.0 installed ?
Would you be open to a clean install for appserver 1.1 after uninstalling appserver 1.0 ?

I have attempted to uninstall AppFabric 1.0 before but it appears not to have cleanly purged itself.
Anyway looking at the %TEMP% directory I find another CBS.log file with the following

I think the reason for the issue is that Application-Server-Extensions-Win7 is called instead of Application-Server-Extensions-Win6 which was your OS when appfabric was installed.
I will ask around internally is there a known way to cleanup the installation of 1.0 , this could be the reason for an unclean uninstall of the appfabric server installation also.
One possible workaround could be to run the above 2 commands replacing win7 with win6, not sure if it would work.
Standard disclaimer applies.

27 martie 2012 02:53But since this is now Windows 7, would a component of Application-Server-Extensions-Win6 still exist?

But since this is now Windows 7, would a component of Application-Server-Extensions-Win6 still exist?
Vista to Win7 upgrade isn't a tested scenario, component name wouldnt normally change when you upgrade OS.
