Not receving email notification

Question

Hi All,

While working on TFS when I am making some changes and checking in the file, at times I am not getting Email notification. (Although I am getting notification most of the the times). But there are cases when I am not receving the notification.

One problem which I thought of was exchange server, but that does not seems to be a problem as i get rest of the mails during that time.

Can there be any other TFS- admin related issue which I am missing out.

Can I chack some kind of log where I can verify?

Is there a location on TFS which routes the emails etc..

Please suggest..!!

Thanks for your post!

First, please check the ‘Visual Studio Team Foundation Background Job Agent’ service is running.

Second, Please go to the Event View to see the detailed error: Start->Administrative Tools->Server Manager->Custom Views->Server Roles->Administrative Events

Third, you can monitor the Subscripts in the TFS database tables. The event notifications are in tfs_ProjectCollectionName database int the table tbl_eventSubscription, You can find the ID for a particular subscription from this table.

Thanks Cathy for your quick response. However, I forgot to mention in my previous post that I'm using TFS 2008, which is hosted on a Windows 2003 server. The steps you mentioned are for TFS 2010. Could you please help me in this issue with TFS 2008?
