Team Foundation Server Everywhere 2010 / 11 beta for Mac

Question

Hi,

We have installed Team Explorer Everywhere Eclipse plugin on a Mac Lion 10.7.4 OS, however we have an issue of Eclipse hanging when trying to check in files.

We upgraded the installation from Team Explorer Everwhere 10 to 11 beta but the problem still persists. The problem doesn't appear to be on the Mac's Snow Leapard OS but I cannot say for certain.

We added file extensions to the settings to include files that we have in our solutions, and we also added cshtml file extension (as we are developing with Razor) but the issue seems to be completely random (if random truly exists...!). Could there be any other setting we have overlooked or does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Leroy, I use TEE on Mac OS 10.7.4, it works well for me. Your problem looks like a server connection problem, which causes eclipse UI hanging. Do you have any other problems when trying to connect to server? Thanks!

Ok I've managed to gather a bit more information.

On the latest 'hang' we tried to check in 36 gif files of around 4Kb in size, we looked at activity monitor and found the following:

Process Group - Eclipse, CPU: 1.71, Recent Hangs: 0

Threads: 41, Ports: 443, CPU Time: 26.48, Context Switches: 50546, Faults: , Page Ins: 11, Mach Messages In: 169489, Mach Messages Out: 398747, Mach System Calls: 616484, Unix System Calls: 116999

The ports usage doesnt seem right, our tfs isn't on ssl and the url runs on port 8080 - could this be the issue?

Hi Leroy, it's weird. If you could post TEE platform log here, I'll look into the problem. To do that, go to Help->Team Explorer Support->Platform Log. Thanks for reporting the issue.

Hi Kai, I've found an RC version of the software and am installing on the relevant machine then will test again and let you know the logs if it does it again. Cheers.

Hi Leroy, which TEE version do you use? Did you just upgrade to 11-RC (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29933) and still have similar problems?

Hi Leroy, it looks like to be a plug-in installation problem. Which version of Eclipse do you use? How did you install the TFSEclipsePlugin, install it from eclipse->help->install new software or just copy the TFSEclipsePlugin-xx.zip into eclipse directory? I see you were still using TFSEclipsePlugin-xx-10.zip, we have a newer version 11.0 from the site http://dl.microsoft.com/eclipse/tfs/preview 

Can you also try the following? Download a new eclipse, install the new TFSEclipse plugin, create a new workspace and then importing your project into it. Let me know if you still have the errors. Thanks!
