Error 0x5EBE5729 installing SQL Server

Question

Hi,

I am trying to install Sql 2008 Express but as many here I receive constantly Error 0x5EBE5729.

I will copy the Summary.txt with the hope somebody is able to help me.

The error should be caused by "something" wrong in the MSXML6 Service Pack 2 as I read fro the Summary.

I downloaded a new copy of it but at the moment to reinstall it I receive the following message:

"Setup was interrupted before MSXML 6 SP2 could completely be installed."

I removed the whole MSXML6 with Your Uninstaller but I continue not to be able to reinstall it.

Hi Sigmabeta_1000,

Regarding to the error message you provided, this issue might be caused by that that the installation of MSXML 6 is corrupt.

In the scenario of corrupt installation, please follow the steps below:
1. Close all other running programs, some software such as Anti-Virus will block the operation of uninstall.
2. Download and install Windows Cleanup Utility: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=290301 . Run the utility and remove any items related to MSXML6
3. Try installing it manually, and then reattempt the SQL Server installation. You can get MSXML6 from here.
4. Download MSXML 6.0 SP2 and install it. Please download it from the following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=819352df-cffa-413a-94d1-6213927137f6&displaylang=en

If this error still exists or you have any other questions, please post the SQL error log.
