I have windows 7 64bit with visual studio 2010 SP1 installed, also I have Async-CTP-v2 installed before,
after I install Async-CTP-v3, I didn't get updated Samples and Library files.
then I uninstalled Async-CTP-v2, delete the folder in my document for the samples and library files,
I installed Async-CTP-v3 as fresh installation, again no folder created in my document for Async-CTP sample and library.
thanks for advance help

Do you know if the installation completed successfully? To verify this you should check the file versions and compare them to the expected versions in Lucian’s blog.
If it did install correctly, you should check that your “my documents” folder is local on your machine, your issue might be similar to the this issue

Hi Almazov,
Can you send the current file versions on your machine based on what is described in Lucian’s blog ? In addition, can you indicate the location of the “My documents” folder, specifically is it on your machine or on a network drive?
Thanks, Avner

Hi Avner,
I had right(updated) versions for csc and vbc, and had 10.0.40219.1 for msvbide.dll. "My documents" folder is on my local machine(c:\Users\almazov\Documents\). Also you can find detailed installation log files:

The most likely reason is that you have a Visual Studio patch (hotfix) that prevent from Async CTP to install. Can you please reply with the list of Visual Studio's updates on your machine (from control panel search for "view installed updates")?
I'll send the logs to my team experts to analyze them and keep you posted.
Thanks,
Avner

Avner,
I'm having a similar problem except this is with VS 2010 express SP1.
FYI - msvbide.dll showed 10.0.40219.1. I did copy the 'correct' version from another computer and no luck.
I did install Silverlight 4 and 5 developer prior to installing Async CTP v3.

Avner,
I believe I fixed my problem - here is what I did:
1. Uninstalled everything
2. Re-installed VS 2010 Express
3. Attempted to install the VS2010 SP1 update - the updater reported that it was still installed and I could re-apply or remove. I removed it.
4. I uninstalled VS 2010 Express
5. I re-booted and re-installed VS 2010 Express
6. I re-ran the VS 2010 SP1 update - this time it took
7. I ran the Async CTP v3 installer and it worked
-- My Silverlight 4 project now recognizes the Async CTP code correctly.
FYI - I am getting the following message now in VS 2010 when I load a project:
The 'Microsoft.Data.Entity.Design.BootstrapPackage.BootstrapPackage, Microsoft.Data.Entity.Design.BootstrapPackage, Version=10.0.0.0,Culture=nuetral, PublicKey Token=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' package did not load correctly.
It then states I should look at the ..\VWDExpress\10.0\Activity Log.xml file by running the /log parameter.
*Note*: I originally installed VS2010 on D:\ and the Silverlight Developer tools weren't working properly so I moved back to C:\. This may have been what was causing the problem as when I removed VS 2010 Express the SP1 bits remained behind?

Sorry for the delay.
The issue is that Silverlight 5 tools (shipped after Async CTP) prevent installing Async CTP on top of it. Installing it on the opposite order (first Async CTP and then Silverlight 5 tools) does seem to work although I did not do a deep testing, particularly I did not test Expression Blend integration.
We are still investigating the reason for this, for now, you should install the Async CTP before Silverlight 5 tools.

I had Silverlight 5 tools before attempting to install this and I uninstalled it, but still the Async CTP install fails for me. Is it possible to get the CTP installed after uninstalling Silverlight 5 tools and Silverlight 5?

Is KB2615527 still shows up in your installed updates? If so, you will need to uninstall it before installing the Async CTP.

Actually, if it helps, I was having the same installation troubles but KB2615527 was NOT the issue. So, I compared my KB list with the above and after removing the additional extra KBs I had installed, the Async CTP 3 installation was successful.
The additional KBs being:
KB2635973
KB2549864
Good luck!

Adam,
I had the same install trouble, and tried your tip of uninstalling the KB's you mentioned: KB2635973, KB2549864.
That solved my problem, I was able to install successfully after that.
Do you know, is it safe to reapply those kb's?

Actually, if it helps, I was having the same installation troubles but KB2615527 was NOT the issue. So, I compared my KB list with the above and after removing the additional extra KBs I had installed, the Async CTP 3 installation was successful.
The additional KBs being:
KB2635973
KB2549864
Good luck!
Unfortunately this didn't solve it for me. I'm now trying the more heavy-handed approach of completely removing VS 2010 and installing the Async CTP directly after SP1. *fingers crossed*Twitter: @bc3tech
