unable to initiate chat session with one certain contact...

I could reply once receive the instant message from this contact, but couldn't initiate a chat
also have trouble to perform certain functions to this contact.
there is only "add as friend" but no "send instant message" ,"send offline message" or "block"options.
But when I click "add as friend" and connect to MSN live website
which indicates that "You are already connected with username "
the problem started when I was using msn live 2009, updated to 2011 does not help
I've tried to delete this contact and re-add, reinstall messenger (both 2009 and 2011)
no luck either.
third-party client such as Pidgin works fine.
no problem when downgraded to older version of messenger (8.5)
but have to use crack version since everyone knows that msn force you to upgrade to their newer version...
anyone has suggestions to solve this situation??? thanks!!
