Hi Cougar1492,
Regarding to your description and error message, which is general error message. Since there is an Access Violation (0xc0000005) in sql process, there would be errors in ErrorLog also, along with dump. Due to some issue AV is getting generated and thread is getting. Could you post the SQL Server Setup error log for further troubleshooting?
Alternatively you can try to cleaning the cluster up, remove the node and then try s a new installation.
Additional, please refer t these articles as below, which might be helpful

Hello,
Just a little add-in to the excellent post of Amber.
I don't think that this thread is in the good forum. I propose that ( with the agreement of Cougar1492 and Amber ) ) a moderator moves it to this forum :
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlsetupandupgrade/threads
i think that your thread will interest more people on this new forum.
Have a nice day

Hello,
Move done. I hope that you will a full and quick answer to your problem.
I have noticed in the install logfile that the problem is on the level of the start of the SQL Server service for the named instance SQLCLUSTER. ( problem to obtain/open an handle for the MSSQL$SQLCLUSTER service maybe, but it is out of my knowledges )
The SQL Server is a 2008 RTM but maybe Cougar1492 could tell us what is the exact edition of the SQL Server ( i suppose a Developer or an Entreprise ).
Cougar1492, please, could you tell us the version and full edition of the operating system on which you are trying to install your SQL Server ?
Thanks beforehand and good luck
