Can't connect to AdventureWorks in SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express

Question

I'm trying to learn SQL via the tutorials in the BOL.  I have SQL Server 2005 Express and SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express installed on a laptop running 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate.  Because I'm running 64-bit, the full download of SQL Server Express with tools didn't work on my system, I had to download the X86 binaries.  This worked fine for my primary purpose, which is to manage a DotNetNuke test web site on my laptop, but I think it means I don't have all the tools to work with AdventureWorks - there's something called Analysis Services, Integration Services, Reporting Services, and SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition.  The only one of these that shows on my Management Studio Express console is SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition.  Is there somewhere I can download the other features for 64-bit Win7?

I went ahead and installed AdventureWorksDB.msi from the CodePlex download page, and did the steps under "Register the AdventureWorks Database."  The last step says

In the Connection Properties tab, in the Connect to database list, select AdventureWorks, and then click Save.

There is no list of databases, and when I try to connect to the server to browse for a list of databases, it says that user sa isn't authorized to connect.  (?) I tried it again to get the error number for this post, and it browses my existing server with my DNN database but there's no sign of AdventureWorks.

Are there separate procedures for installing AdventureWorks when you already have a database other than the default installed??  How can I add a new Registered Server when I only have one server?

Try attaching AdventureWorks DB.  In Object Explorer, right click databases and click attach. Click Add. choose AdventureWorks_Data.mdf file and OK then OK. Refresh databases by F5 or right click you should be able to see AdventureWork.

Thanks for your guidance. I installed the AdventureWorks database and it never showed up in SQL Server Management Studio. I followed your advice and now it's there!
