Answered PowerPivot install error 1: 0: 2:

Hi, my team and I started using PowerPivot a few months ago, and about two dozen users have successfully installed PP. A new employee just tried installing the add-in, but he receives the cryptic pop-up message "1: 0: 2:". (Screenshot below.) The installer then says that the installation has been interrupted and is unable to continue.

Any ideas? We've verified that he's downloaded the correct version (32-bit). He's running Windows 7 and Office 2010, just like the rest of our team. The spread of PP among our team has been a bit of a rogue installation - our IT department doesn't really know much about it, and we're not sure they'd be much help. Any insight is appreciated. --Nick

    Hi,

Based on the error message, it seem your user is not the admin, please Refreshing admin rights and redo the installation, if the issue still exist, please feel free to let us know.

    Thanks,

Yes, that seems to be the problem. We had the same problem with our latest new hire; our IT support is able to update admin rights so she can proceed with the installation.
