Respondido Sharing a document library in SP2010

I have two sites.  They are not subsites hanging off a parent site, just two separate sites.  These are the intranets for two sister companies, so obviously there are similarities and some differences.  I have number of similar tabs and subsites for each, and the last tab points to the other site.  So far so good.

Now, these companies need to share some data, I assumed I could share a document library and make it common between the sites (whether or not it was actually hosted on one site or the other).  After googling around, I'm a bit concerned.  Is this even possible?  Is there any work around?

Possible but not OOB or you can use Page Viewer web part to use OOB.

Page Viewer web part is a web part that allows you to see a page embbed inside a page in an IFrame, this is one way.

    Other is development.

    Other is content deployment.

Thanks for your help.   Are there any 3rd party tools for Sharepoint that I could use to accomplish this?

So there is no way to accomplish this?  It seems a pretty straightforward requirement for a business.  Every department might have its own standards, and in a group of companies each has its own standards (to varying degrees).  But there are corporate standards that everyone refers to as well.
