I currently have a series of different start and end locations. I always want the start position to be at the bottom and the end position to be at the top of the screen. Essentially I want to rotate where north is pointing. This is similar
to turn by turn in a GPS where you are always at the bottom of the screen, facing the same direction of where you are going so that a right hand turn will be a right hand turn in the map regardless of where north is.
Where can I change these values within the bing map control? Also, does anyone have any recommendation how to determine what values to supply based upon two random points?
Unfortunately, you can't change the orientation of road or aerial maps from the Bing Maps control - tiles will always be rendered with North facing up.
You can change orientation using the 3D control, or you can implement your own rotation algorithm in Silverlight. For an example, check out Jim Lynn's demo to the UK Bing Maps usergroup - http://bingmapsuk.ning.com/video/uk-bing-maps-user-group - from about
13:25 onwards, where he demonstrates not only how he rotated underlying tile images from the Ordnance Survey, but how he kept the labels facing upwards. (In fact, watch the whole video - it's great!)
