Bing Maps App for Outlook

    Question

  • How Bing Maps App recognize that there is an address in the mail body?

In my signature I have an address with Number, Street, City, Zip Code, Country but no Bing Map App is displayed. Also I receive some newsletters and the Bing Maps App recognize the addresses.

    Thanks,

    Grig

  • Hi Grig

Address is a built-in known entity that can be used to activate mail apps. For information on how to apply this kind of activation logic in your own mail app, check out our documentation on activation rules: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/apps/fp142188.aspx

    Thanks!

  • Well-known adress entities is an United States street addresses, for example:

1234 Main Street, Redmond, WA 07722.

The natural language recognition of a string as an address is based on a learning model that has been trained on a large amount of data. Therefore, the recognition is non-deterministic. Generally, for an address to be recognized, it should follow the structure of a United States postal address, with most of the elements of a street number, street name, city, state, and zip code present. The address can be specified in one or multiple lines.

Even I put the address in the American format the address is not reconized.

The address I try is "4th, N. Titulescu Cluj-Napoca  Cluj  400420". MapIt button sets the map to the right place.
